Titer Testing at One Year and Beyond

Optional Titer Testing for Your Magnificent Golden Retriever

Effective at determining titers (level of immunity against Distemper and Parvo) as early as three weeks after final core vaccine. Is your dog really protected — or being over/under vaccinated?

We vaccinate responsibly. After the puppy series is complete, you might consider titer testing before giving yearly boosters. That’s where we come in when your go to vet doesn’t offer the service or charges entirely way to much money to do it as a matter of routine every ~3 years.

🧪 What Is Titer Testing?

Titer testing is a blood test that shows whether your dog still has immunity to:

  • Distemper
  • Parvovirus
  • Adenovirus (Hepatitis)

If antibody levels are sufficient, you may not need to revaccinate. This is backed by WSAVA guidelines and modern veterinary research.

💼 Let Us Handle It For You

We manage the whole process for you:

  • Coordinate sample collection (with your vet)
  • Label, prep, and cold-pack the sample
  • Ship to a trusted lab like KSVDL or Hemopet
  • Track and forward results to you

Cost: We charge double the actual expense it costs us to run the test. This covers our time, materials, packaging, and submission coordination.

📅 When Should You Test?

The ideal time is when your puppy is around 12 months old. After that, retesting every 3 years is usually enough unless there’s an exposure concern.

📝 How to Sign Up

We’ll contact you as your puppy nears one year old. If you’d like us to run the test, simply say “yes” and we’ll take care of the rest.

Typical turnaround: 10–14 days after we ship the sample.
